<p>第10位はランドローバーレンジローバー(現行)。4WD界の王様、と呼んでいいでしょう。伊達に英国王室御用達じゃありません。世界のセレブに愛されてきた理由には卓越したオン/オフロードにおける走行性能、贅沢にしつらえられたインテリア、そして長年にわたり築き上げられたブランドの歴史などが挙げられるでしょう。そんなレンジローバーですが、現行型とて300万円台から狙えるようになってきました。レンジローバーでしか味わえないセレブの空気、試してみませんか?</p>
<p>第9位はトヨタクルーガーハイブリッド(絶版)。ハイブリッドが単なるエコの技術にとどまらず、新たな動力源としての可能性を見いだしたモデルです。試乗会で印象に残っているのは「某有名高級SUVのターボモデルに匹敵する中間加速」と技術者が解説していたことです。おそらく、ポルシェカイエンターボを指しているのでしょう。フツーのSUVの利便性をもちながら燃費はいいし、速いし、文句のつけどころがありません。バッテリーのせいか、かなりの重量級ですけど。</p>
<p>第8位はホンダMDX(絶版)。デビューからそれほど時間がたっていなくて、フルサイズのSUVで大人7名乗車ができて、パワフルな3.5LのV6エンジンを搭載しながら200万円弱から狙えるのはお得です。たっぷりとしたボディサイズなのは、北米で開発・生産されたから。短命に終わったのも、大きなボディサイズゆえなのかもしれません。意外や意外、車ってそこまで運転しにくいものって少ないですよ。実際、宅配便のトラックなどと比べれば小さいんですから。</p>
<p>第7位はBMW X5(旧型)。SUVにセダンのような走りを持ち込んだのが、X5でした。旧型になった今でも、走りのレベルは現役バリバリです。200万円弱から狙える今こそ、程度の良いものに乗っておきたいものです。新車でそこそこの国産SUVを買う予算で味わえる走りを、いともたやすく凌駕してくれます。海に山にキャンプと大活躍します。車内はBMWらしいスポーティさと高級感をうまく融合させていますから、どんな人を乗せても文句は出ません。安くなったものです。</p>
<p>第6位はM・ベンツMクラス(旧型)。初期型モデルに「M・ベンツ」ブランド“らしい”高級感を感じることは少ないかもしれません。おそらく、使い倒されることを前提に作られていたのでしょう。新車時価格は600万円オーバーでしたが、今では100万円強で狙えます。このサイズのSUVで、このレベルの走りで、このパッケージングだったら、かなりコストパフォーマンスが高いと言えるでしょう。絶対評価でいけば後期型がオススメなのですが、いかんせん値が張ります。</p>

<!-- short sentence start -->フェラーリやマセラティなど、数々の自動車デザインを手がけたピニンファリーナ。時にはデザインのみならず、車体の製造をも行うカロッツェリア(イタリア語で自動車製作所の意味)として有名な同社ですが、手がけた車の中でも最も美しい車両の一つに挙げられるのが、1998年1月に日本導入されたプジョー406クーペです。<!-- short sentence end --><br />

その名のとおり、406の2ドアバージョンである406クーペ。ボディはデザインのみならず、製造もピニンファリーナが担当しました。この車以降、プジョー車は社内のデザインセンターが手がけることとなり、必然的に生産も自社となっています。現在のところ、この406クーペがピニンファリーナが手がけた最後のプジョー車となっています。<br />

406クーペは、本国ではいくつかのバリエーションが設定されていましたが、日本に正規輸入されたのは1グレードのみで、新車価格は515万円。3LのV6DOHCエンジンに、ZF製4ATのミッションが組み合わせされ、これに本国ではオプションとなっていたブレンボ製キャリパーや、プジョーとレカロが共同開発した本革シートを標準装備した、かなりの豪華仕様でした。<br />

車内はセダンに通じる部分がいくつか見られます。共通のデザインを採用するインパネは当然としても、後部座席はクーペにしては極めて広く、「セダン並み」と言っていいサイズ。またラゲージルームも余裕タップリで、ゴルフバッグがしっかり収まります。トランク奥の赤いレバーを引っ張るだけで、トランクスルー化もラクラクOK。クーペとしては、最上級の使い勝手が確保されています。<br />
<br />
しかし、なんといっても406クーペ最大のウリは、外装のデザイン。発売から10年以上が経過した今となっても、流麗で、洗練されたデザインの優美さは失われることがありません。実は外装部分はセダンやワゴンと同じパーツは一切使用されておらず、すべてが専用設計されています。シャーシは共通ですが、新設計のリアハブを採用してトレッドを広げており、このクーペが406シリーズの中でも特異な存在であることがわかります。<br />
<br />
このエクステリアデザインに変更が加えられたのが、2003年8月のマイナーチェンジ。フロントバンパーのエアインテークが大型化され、フォグランプの形も変えられました。これによって、ナンバープレートの取り付け位置が、インテークの上部から下部へ変更。普通の車ならこの程度の変更は「些細」なはずですが、406クーペはデザインがウリの車だけに、この意匠変更には賛否両論が渦巻きました。結果的に、現在でもデザインという点においては、前期型に軍配を上げる人が多いようです<br />

一方で、装備はマイナーチェンジ後の後期型のほうが充実。ダッシュボードとステアリングの一部をシートカラーと同色に変更。センターパネルには光沢のあるアルミが施されました。さらにラゲージルームにはネットが標準装備されています。<br />

原稿執筆時点でカーセンサーnetに掲載されているプジョー406クーペは6台。このうち5台が前期型で、最安価格はなんと69.8万円。そのほかもほとんどが100万円を切る価格設定になっています。走行距離は、最も少ないもので4.3万km、ほとんどが5万kmを超えていますが、10万kmオーバーのものはないようです。もっとも、デザインの美しい車はやはりオーナーも粗雑に扱いたくなかったためか、屋内保管や禁煙をウリにしている物件が目立つのも特徴的。距離の割には状態の良い中古車が見つけやすいかもしれません。<br />
<br />
後期型の1台は2004年式で走行距離1.6万kmという優良物件。ただしディーラーが取り扱っている車両ということもあって、価格は258万円とかなり値が張ります。それでも新車時に比べれば半額程度ですから、十分お得と言える価格です。ボディカラーはブルー。前期型にも言えることですが、やはりプジョー車はコーポレートカラー(企業のシンボルカラー)の印象が強いのか、406クーペもブルーの比率が過半数となっています。<br />
<br />
歴史的名デザインである406クーペも販売終了から4年以上が経過し、さすがに良質の物件が少なくなってきました。一方で、中古車相場は驚くほど下がっていいます。まさに「即買い」しないと、手に入れるチャンスを逃してしまうかもしれませんよ？ 興味をもった方は下の検索窓に「406クーペ」と入れて検索してみてください。<br />
