グレードは、電動開閉式ルーフのアクティブトップと、取り外し可能な樹脂製ルーフをもつディタッチャブルトップが設定されていた。また、スペシャルチューンドサスペンションといった装備を採用し、よりスポーティな走行が楽しめるスポーツパックも用意。こちらはアクティブトップにオプション、ディタッチャブルトップに標準装備となっていた。</p>

クーペなのにセダン。セダンなのにクーペ。この禅問答のような問いに対する答えは、みなさんご存じのはず。そう、マツダのRX-8です。スポーツカーならではの動力性能とフォルムを実現しつつ、実用性と快適性を兼ね備えた4ドアスポーツ、それがRX-8です。<br />

今月マイナーチェンジを行い、フェイスリフトされたばかりのRX-8、それが原因かどうかはわかりませんが、相場が大きく下降し、今や最安値は108万円。グッとお手頃な価格になってきました！<br />
<br />
しかも100万円台前半で狙えるからといって、多走行、修復歴アリといった物件ばかりという状況ではありません。実際にカーセンサーnetに載っている物件を例にとると、2003年式のベースモデルで、走行1.8万km、修復歴なしの物件が、なんと136.5万円（しかもディーラー車）。150万円以下とは言え、程度の面でもかなりの上物が狙えるというわけです。<br />

ただ、150万円以下で狙えるのは、2003年式、2004年式といった初期モデルが中心。これらがどんなクルマなのかというと、エンジンはマツダの至宝、言わずとしれたロータリーエンジンを搭載。ミッションはタイプSが6MT、ベースモデルが5MTと4AT、タイプEは4ATのみとなっています（2006年8月の小変更で、ATは4AT→6ATに）。<br />
<br />
「今時4ATかよ？」とお思いの方も多いかもしれませんが、ロータリーの旨味を味わう前の低回転で、シフトアップしてしまう6ATより、4ATのほうがその楽しみをより享受できるとも言えます。<br />
<br />
<b><font color="red">■</font>“4ドア”は財布のヒモを緩める免罪符！？</b><br />
250馬力を発揮するのはタイプSのみですが（それ以外は210馬力）、S以外でも不満を感じることは少ないでしょう。より速いのは当然タイプSですが、210馬力とは言え、車両重量は約1300kg。セダンとしては軽量な部類に入るので、スポーツカー並みの加速が十分味わえます。<br />
<br />
4ドアなので実用性も必要十分。「観音開きは使い勝手が・・・」などという声も聞かれますが、クーペと比べたらその差は歴然。荷物の出し入れなども含めて、RX-8のほうが遥かに実用的です。<br />

みなさんの中には、奥様が財布を握っているという方も多いと思います。そして「クーペは不便だから・・・」と一刀両断というケースもあるでしょう。かく言う私もその一人なのですが、RX-8には4ドアという切り札があります。これはある意味免罪符です。<br />
<br />
その点をうまくアピールしつつ、上手に奥様を篭絡してスポーツカーを手に入れる、なんてどうでしょう？今や100万円ちょっとあれば買えるのですから。<br />
