ユーザーの要求を満たし根強い人気を誇る一台</h4>
<!-- short sentence start -->国産ミニバン最大級のカテゴリーに君臨するのが、トヨタのアルファード。H14年にグランビアの後継として投入されてから6年が経過した今も、堅調な売れ行きを維持している。<br />
車名のアルファードとは、星座の中で最も明るい星を「α星」と呼ぶことに由来する造語。同カテゴリーで、最も輝きを放つモデルになることを目標としてつけられた名称だ。<!-- short sentence end --><br />
ターゲットユーザーは「ミニバン確信派」で、ミニバンを乗り継ぐことによってその良さを熟知し、「もうミニバン以外、乗りたくない」という層を指す。こういった目の肥えたユーザーでも、あらゆる面で満足できる車を目指したという。<br />
「アルファードG」と「アルファードV」の2種類があるが、前者がトヨペット店、後者がネッツ店の扱いという違いだ
け。グリルのデザインが異なる以外、メカニズムや装備内容はまったく同一となっている。

<h4><span class="font-red">●</span>メカニズム<br />
2種類のガソリンエンジンとハイブリッド車を設定</h4>
プラットフォームは先代エスティマと共通で、メカニカルレイアウトは横置きエンジンのFF（前輪駆動）がベースとなる。<br />
エンジンのラインナップは、2.4Lの直4DOHC、3LのV6DOHCの2種類。さらに専用の2.4Lエンジンをモーターでアシストする、環境性能の高いハイブリッド車も用意される。<br />
トランスミッションはATで、ハイブリッドのみがCVTを搭載。H17年4月のマイナーチェンジでは、3Lモデルが5ATにグレードアップし、トップギアが高くなったことで、特に高速走行時の燃費が向上している。<br />
4WD仕様はほぼ全グレードに用意されており、機械式センターデフにビスカスLSDを装備するフルタイム方式を採用。リアデフにはトルセンLSDも装備され、高速走行時の安定性や悪路走破性を高めている。<br />
ハイブリッド車は4WDモデルのみとなり、後輪は電気モーターによって駆動される。

<h4><span class="font-red">●</span>エクステリア＆インテリア<br />
広大な室内空間と多彩なシートアレンジ</h4>
大きなフロントグリルとヘッドランプで威風堂々の存在感を主張するアルファードだが、全幅は1805mmと、同社のミドルクラスSUVよりスリムなくらい。市街地での取り回しも、慣れれば問題のないレベルだ。<br />
特徴的なのはフェンダーフレアの処理。通常ならばふくらませて形成するところを、逆に内側に掘り込むことで成立させ、サイドパネルを全幅いっぱいまで張り出させている。これにより、室内幅は1585mmもの広さを確保。2列目シートの3人掛けも可能としている。<br />
乗車定員は7人と8人の2仕様あり、前者は2列目シートが独立式、後者はベンチシートだ。どちらも2列目が回転して、3列目との対座が可能。3列目シートの居住性も高く、大人が足を組んで座ることができる。なお、この3列目は左右に跳ね上げて格納可能。格納時は、乗車人数分のキャンプ道具を積んで余りある荷室を確保できる。<br />

<h4><span class="font-red">●</span>インプレッション<br />
圧倒的な動力性能を求めるならば3Lモデルを</h4>
2.4Lモデルでも実用域では十分に力強く、市街地走行時では大きな不満は感じない。とはいえ、高速道路の上り坂で失速したトラックを追い越す際のスムーズさや、巡航時の静粛性という点では、3Lモデルが圧倒的に勝る。特に5AT化された後期型ならば、巡航時のエンジン回転数が低く抑えられ、車内の静粛性は一段と高まっている。<br />
いずれのグレードでも、乗り心地は重厚で快適。背の高い車相応のロールはあるが、タイヤの接地感が良いため不安定さは皆無だ。フットワークの軽快感では、ノーズの軽い2.4Lモデルが秀でている。

H16年以降で相場の底値がアップするため、予算を抑えたいならH14年～H15年式で選ぼう。予算に限りがない場合は、アルカンターラシートなどを装備した特別仕様車がおすすめ。特にH16年式以降は多く流通しているので、ぜひ探してみよう。

リコール情報は少ないが動作確認はきちんと行おう</h6>
リコールで発表されたのは、パワステ用油圧ポンプの不具合。これは、H14年11月からH15年1月に生産されたG/Vの一部に見られるものだ。また、希にパワースライドドアが開閉できないとの話も聞かれる。下見時は動作確認を忘れずに。

国産セダンが不振に喘いでいる陰で、輸入セダンの人気は上々です。なかでもドイツが誇るスリートップ、M･ベンツCクラス、BMW3シリーズ、アウディA4は、国産セダンの牙城をいともたやすく破っています。当然これだけのスターともなれば、新車価格は400万～600万円と手に入れるためにはかなりのお金が必要になります。<br />

「そんな金あるか！」と。ごもっともです。しかしカーセンサースカウト陣の目は節穴ではありません。世界最強のスリートップに比肩するほどの実力を備えながら、お手頃価格で手に入れられる逸材がいるのです。今回はそんなおいしい一台の、VWジェッタをご紹介します。<br />

「ジェッタ？何それ？」とお思いになるのもわかります。日本ではあまり知られていないのですが、ジェッタはゴルフVのプラットフォームを使って作られたVWのセダンなのです。世界に名を馳せた名ユーティリティプレイヤー、ゴルフVがベースなのですから、デキが悪いわけがありません。<br />

エンジンは直4直噴2LのNAと、2Lターボの2種類。2007年10月からは2LのNAが廃止され、VW新世代のエンジンとなる、ツインチャージャーの1.4Lが追加されています。ミッションは2LのNAには6ATが搭載され、1.4TSIと2Lターボの2.0T(2007年10月から2.0TSI)には電光石火のシフトチェンジを可能にしたDSGが奢られています。その点からもわかるとおり、ジェッタは単なるサルーンではなく、キビキビ走ることも得意なスポーティサルーンといった位置づけとなっています。<br />
<br />
スリーサイズは4565×1785×1470（mm）。冒頭のスリートップと大きさ的には同格です。扱いやすさと快適性をうまく調和させた大きさと言えるのではないでしょうか。<br />

<b><font color="red">■</font>ポテンシャルだけでなく機能面も充実している</b><br />
高級感だって負けていません。見た目で最もポイントとなるフロントマスクには、VWのアイデンティティであるクロームメッキのワッペングリルを採用。モールにもメッキを施したその出で立ちは、凛とした気品ある佇まいを演出しています。<br />

インテリアにも抜かりはなく、本革シートやウッドパネルなどが設定され、非常にクオリティの高い車内環境となっています。<br />

さて、長らく引っ張ってしまいましたが、核心でもある値段。これがどのくらい安いのかというと、最安値は2LのNAモデルで168万円。登場したのは2006年1月、新車時価格は289万円です。<br />
<br />
つまり、登場からたったの2年しかたっていないにもかかわらず、もう半額近いプライスになっているのです。だからといって多走行というわけではなく、車両状態も至って良好。走行距離はたったの5000kmです。「輸入車は故障が・・・」と不安に思う方でも、新車保証が受けられる範囲なので心配はいりません。<br />
<br />
ドイツのスリートップに脚光が集まる中で、ジェッタは知る人ぞ知る“逸材”と言えるでしょう。これはもう見つけたモン勝ちです。知名度が低いゆえ、タマ数はさほど多くありません。他の誰かが目をつける前にぜひ。まずはジェッタで検索をしてみてください。<br />
